Dan Vladar picks up his first NHL shutout in 4-0 win over Senators

Calgary Flames goaltender Dan Vladar recorded his first National Hockey League shutout on Sunday, making 27 saves in the Flames’ 4-0 win over the Ottawa Senators.
Vladar, 24, improved to 3-0-1 with a .933 save percentage on the season with the victory. Between Vladar and Jacob Markström, the Flames now have a league-leading five shutout wins in 2021–22.
The Flames acquired Vladar from the Boston Bruins on July 28, 2021, sending a 2022 third-round draft selection to Boston in exchange for the Czech goaltender. The Bruins originally selected the Prague, CZE product in the third round (75th overall) of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Vladar played his first five regular-season NHL games with the Bruins in 2020–21, posting a 2-2-1 record with an .886 save percentage. He made his playoff debut with Boston in the 2020 bubble, stopping 12 of 15 shots he faced in relief of @Jaroslav Halak in a 7-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 3 of the second round.
Sunday’s game was Vladar’s first time making a second consecutive start for his team in the NHL. He also appeared in goal for the Flames on Thursday, making 35 saves in a 2-1 overtime loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Flames (8-3-4) will return to action on Nov. 16 to face the 7-4-2 Philadelphia Flyers. Expect Markström (5-3-3, .935 SV%) to start in goal for the Flames on Tuesday.
