After coming close on multiple previous occasions in his young career, Calgary Flames goaltender Dustin Wolf stopped all 29 shots he faced against the Nashville Predators on Friday night to record his first National Hockey League shutout.
Wolf was nothing short of spectacular in the Flames’ 2-0 victory over the Predators on Scotiabank Saddledome ice, making numerous 10-bell saves and turning aside 13 shots in the third period to secure Calgary’s ninth win of the 2024-25 season.
With the win, Wolf improved to 6-2-1 on the season to go along with a 2.53 goals-against average and a sparkling .921 save percentage. The Gilroy, California product also has an assist to his name this year.
FlamesNation‘s own Robert Munnich tweeted out a large selection of Wolf’s best stops from Friday’s game, including this acrobatic robbery against Predators forward Steven Stamkos:
The Flames have now posted two shutouts in the 2024-25 regular season, with Dan Vladar previously backstopping them to a 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils on November 1. With a 9-6-3 record and 21 points in 18 games this season, the Flames currently occupy third place in the Pacific Division.
Daniil Miromanov and Blake Coleman scored the only two goals of Friday’s contest, with both coming in the third period to break up what had been a scoreless deadlock for the first 46 minutes of regulation time. MacKenzie Weegar and Nazem Kadri also recorded points for the Flames in the victory.
The Flames originally selected Wolf in the seventh round (No. 214 overall) of the 2019 NHL Draft. The former Everett Silvertips standout made a seamless transition into the professional ranks with the Stockton Heat — later the Calgary Wranglers — and was named the American Hockey League’s most valuable player for the 2022-23 regular season.
Through 27 career games over parts of three seasons with the Flames, the 6′, 166-pound Wolf has amassed a 14-9-1 record to go along with a .905 save percentage — and now, a single shutout.
The Flames will return to action on Tuesday, November 19 to take on the New York Islanders at the Saddledome.
