Flames announce 2018-19 regular season schedule

The Calgary Flames have released their 2018-19 regular season schedule. To the surprise of few, they’ll play 82 games this season.
The divisional breakdown is as follows:
  • Four games (two home and two away) against Pacific Division opponents, except Vancouver (who they play five times).
  • Three games (two home and one away or one home and two away) against the Central Division.
  • Two games (one home and one away) against the Eastern Conference.
In terms of hot ticket home dates:
  • Vancouver visits on Oct. 6 and Dec. 29.
  • Pittsburgh visits on Oct. 25.
  • Washington visits on Oct. 27.
  • Montreal visits on Nov. 15.
  • Edmonton visits on Nov. 17 and Apr. 6.
  • Vegas visits on Nov. 19 and Mar. 10.
  • Toronto comes to town on Mar. 4.
The annual New Year’s Eve game is against San Jose and begins at 7 p.m. MT.
There are a few home games starting at strange times:
  • Sat., Oct. 27 has a 2 p.m. start time when the Flames welcome Washington.
  • Sat., Dec. 22 has a 2 p.m. puck drop for the St. Louis Blues visiting.
  • Mon., Feb. 18 is the now-annual Family Day game, this year against Arizona with a 2 p.m. start.
Beyond these, there’s a 6:30 p.m. Wednesday start due to Sportsnet commitments and a few Wednesday 7:30 p.m. games, but for the most part things are fairly standard.
The longest road trip is four games (twice). The longest homestand is five games. The Flames don’t play between Jan. 23-31 due to the All-Star Break and the CBA-mandated break combining this year for the locals.
Similar to the 2017-18 season, the Flames will close out the season with seven of eight contests against Pacific Division opponents – including five straight at the very end – so if they’re still in the hunt for a playoff spot, those games could be particularly important.
