Flames Game Day 71: Here come the Kings (7pm MT, SNW)

One of the Calgary Flames’ (29-34-7, 65 points) top rivals make one of their final appearances in the Saddledome on Tuesday evening as the Los Angeles Kings (28-25-17, 73 points) come to town. The Flames and Kings have had some excellent regular season battles over the past few seasons. And with the Kings desperate for points in the West’s playoff chase, the Flames have a chance to run their winning streak to four games and play spoiler.
Today’s broadcast begins at 7 p.m. MT on Sportsnet West and Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

We’re projecting Dustin Wolf to start in net, backed up by Devin Cooley. The projected healthy extras are Brayden Pachal, John Beecher and Tyson Gross. Via Pat Steinberg of Sportsnet: Injured defender Yan Kuznetsov skated on Tuesday with the group, but Connor Zary did not.
Amidst the “pillow fight” that is the Pacific Division, the Flames have won three in a row and have the longest active winning streak in the division. Since the Olympic break they’re 6-7-1. Since the trade deadline they’re 5-4-0. Yeah, we know, they’re not exactly helping their draft lottery standings – there will be losses to come, don’t worry. But the Flames are playing structured hockey, but they’re pretty loose and free within that structure, and they’re getting some nice performances.
Blake Coleman has seven points since the trade deadline, leading the team.
The Kings
Projected lines via Daily Faceoff:
Artemi Panarin – Anze Kopitar – Adrian Kempe
Trevor Moore – Quinton Byfield – Alex Laferriere
Joel Armia – Scott Laughton – Jared Wright
Alex Turcotte – Samuel Helenius – Mathieu Joseph

Alex Turcotte – Samuel Helenius – Mathieu Joseph
Mikey Anderson – Drew Doughty
Joel Edmundson – Brandt Clarke
Brian Dumoulin – Cody Ceci

Brian Dumoulin – Cody Ceci
We’re projecting Darcy Kuemper to start in net, backed up by Anton Forsberg. The projected extra skaters are Taylor Ward, Jeff Malott and Jacob Moverare.
Since the Olympic break, the Kings are 5-6-3. Since the trade deadline, they’re 3-3-3. They have a pretty effective top line, led by Artemi Panarin (with 12 points). But man, the Kings are stumbling at a time where if they were decent – not great, but just decent – they would easily be in a playoff spot.
Unavailable players
The Flames are without Sam Honzek, Jake Bean, Jonathan Huberdeau, Yan Kuznetsov and Connor Zary.
The Kings are without Kevin Fiala and Andrei Kuzmenko.
