On Sunday night, Alberta’s two National Hockey League clubs begin their 2025-26 hockey journeys with the traditional split squad set of exhibition games to begin their pre-season schedules.
It’s Calgary against Edmonton in Calgary, and Edmonton against Calgary in Edmonton!
Both games start at 6 p.m. MT. The game in Calgary is being streamed on the Flames’ site in the Calgary broadcast region and has a radio broadcast on Sportsnet 960 The Fan! The game in Edmonton is being streamed on Oilers+ (for a fee), if that’s your thing, but there’s no radio broadcast in the Calgary market.

Devin Cooley starts and is expected to go the distance as he auditions to be Dustin Wolf’s understudy. Jonathan Huberdeau skated with the game group but isn’t expected to play.
The home group includes two full lines that have skated together over the first three days, plus the Kadri/Coronato and Morton/Suniev pairings, who are joined by new-ish linemates – Gridin skated with his line for a day when Huberdeau was taking a maintenance day, while Basha is added to his group.
On the back end, there’s two consistent pairings from the first three days of camp, with Cicek and Andersson added to the group. Having Andersson moved from the second group to the home game group gives the Flames time to work on their power play configurations, too.
Here’s who the Oilers are sending to Calgary:
- Forwards: Clattenburg, Grubbe, Howard, Hutson, Jarventie, Jones, Kapanen, Lazar, Lewandowski, Philp, Pitlick (Rhett) and Samanski
- Defence: Akey, Brown, Emberson, Kulak, Leppanen, Prokop and Stillman
- Goalies: Day and Jonsson
In Edmonton
Lines for the Flames in Edmonton, coached by Dave Lowry:

Ivan Prosvetov starts in Edmonton and is expected to go the distance as he, too, auditions to be Wolf’s backup. Etienne Morin skated with this game group but looked to be the extra.
Up front, there’s the prospective fourth line, plus three groups of players largely built around pairs we’ve seen the Flames and Wranglers use in the past. On the back end, there’s two pairings that’ve skated their whole camp together so far, plus Hurtig and Bahl.
Here’s who the Oilers are icing in Edmonton:
- Forwards: Frederic, Griffith, Hamblin, Janmark, Lafreniere, Marjala, Petrov, Pitlick (Rem), Podkolzin, Savoie, Stonehouse and Tomasek
- Defence: Dineen, Milman, Nurse, Regula, Stecher and Walman
- Goalies: Pickard and Tomkins
