The 2025-26 season has ended for the Calgary Flames. But with a pair of games left on the docket for their minor league affiliate, the Flames made a trio of roster moves on Friday morning, sending goaltender Arsenii Sergeev and forwards Rory Kerins and Aydar Suniev back to the American Hockey League’s Calgary Wranglers.
Sergeev was called up by the Flames on an emergency basis on Thursday morning to sub in for Flames netminder Devin Cooley, who was under the weather. In his first-ever NHL call-up, Sergeev played one game and made 27 saves in a 3-1 win over the Los Angeles Kings. Since he was up on an emergency recall, he was required to be sent back to the Wranglers as a matter of course. He’s in the first year of a two year entry-level contract. He’ll be a restricted free agent next summer.
Kerins was called up by the Flames on Apr. 14, in his second recall of the season from the Wranglers. He played two games on his most recent recall, split between the third and fourth lines, and finished the NHL season with four games and zero points. Kerins is on a one year deal and he’s slated to be a restricted free agent this summer.
Suniev was called up by the Flames on Apr. 3, in his first recall of his NHL career. Suniev dressed for six games, split between the third and fourth lines, and had one assist. Suniev is in the first year of a two year entry-level deal. He’ll be a restricted free agent next summer.
The Wranglers are slated to close out their season on Friday and Saturday night in Loveland, Colorado when they face the Colorado Eagles.
