The chance count may surprise some Flames fans given how close it is versus how much the Flames seemed to control things. Truth is, Calgary dominated possession more than chances through the first two periods  – they spent a lot of time getting shots from the edges of the scoring area rather than the middle. They broke through in the third period with the Ducks sitting back though – Flames beat the bad guys up by all measures in that frame. It was enough to tie the game and get things into OT.
On the flip side, the Flames were lucky to get out of extra time alive. The Ducks dominated 4on4/4on3 and probably should have ended things before the shoot-out.
What may also surprise Flames fans is the mediocre numbers for Iginla et al. They seemed decent by eye, but spent all night against the only Ducks line worth a damn (Getzlaf) and started more often in the defensive end at ES, so their so-so chance and corsi counts are justified if not overly impressive. That said, they were at least the ones to generate the actual tallies on the night for the Flames.
*aside – I have no idea how Hagman ended -4 in a game like this.
