Flames were the better team and ended up losing in a shoot-out anyways for the second straight game. Kipper has cost the team some points over the last little while, although he was also victimized by some uncanny puck luck/bounces on the part of the Hurricanes tonight, Still, he needs to be better (assuming you want the Flames to win, that is).
Some surprising individual numbers tonight. The Iginla line had some really nice sequences this evening and probably could have had a couple more goals if Jokinen could put a puck in the ocean, but still ended up under water by the chance count. That’s despite seeing the best zone start circumstances on the team as well.
Glencross and Hagman also had pretty good games with Stajan along for the ride. Moss, Bourque and Morrison were mostly deployed in a defensive role. Mikael Backlund looked alright to me through his first few shifts, but Sutter sat him down indefinitely once things got complicated. He played just 4 minutes, but still managed a positive differential. Honestly, the kid should be on the farm if he’s going to play 5 minutes a night.
