Even though the Canucks first two goals were iffy for different reasons, the Flames were still technically lucky to be in this one after two periods. They were well under water in terms of possession and had generated just 4 scoring chances at ES to the Canucks 10.
They were full value for the first half of the third though, falling back a bit in the end after Vancouver pressed for the equalizer. The Canucks owned the OT and Calgary was again lucky to escape alive. In terms of the forward lines, Jarome et al. were soundly dominated by all accounts, though they managed to get some points with the man advantage. Everyone else held their own, although no single Flames finished above water.
This is a game most teams lose on most nights,, but Calgary has been getting by one these kind of one-goal contests for the last 10 games or so. They were owed a few of these victores by the hockey gods, so take the "w" and run I guess.
CORRECTION – Moss, Glencross, Hagman and Babchuk were actually +1 in chances tonight. Woo!
