You know things are going your way when you get 6 chances at ES and end up winning 3-1 based on an own-goal, a tip and break-away snipe by a third pairing, stay-at-home defender. The hockey gods were apathetic towards Calgary for the first half of the year, but they’ve been kind recently, and tonight in spades.
Some of the effect tonight is playing-to-score, but it certainly isn’t like the Flames shut things down when they went into the shell. The Blues had 25 shots at ES and another 27 at the net including blocked and missed shots. Some posts, some that missed by inches and couple of 10 bell saves by Kipper saved the "w".
Pleasant surprise of the night? Jokinen and Bourque ending up on the positive side of the chance ledger. They started more often in the defensive zone to boot.
