Flames continue to lead a charmed existence. Four goals tonight on two tips, a muffin from Sarich and a SHG by…Steve Staios. You know lady luck is earnestly clutching you to her bosom when stuff like that happens all in the same game.
Calgary was certainly the better team in the first period by a fair margin, but Dallas reeled things back in the second period and things were pretty even from there (albeit with DAL chasing). This is a game the Flames would have lost in November or December, just because the bounces were going the other way, but things are landing on heads right now. Might as well enjoy it while it lasts.
In terms of individual performances, no one really stands out tonight. The Jokinen/Glencross/Moss line ran things in the first when the Flames were dominant, but faded as the contest continued, although they were split and/or deployed in the defensive end by Sutter a lot. Iginla’s line fought things for two periods but got in the black by the chance count with a couple of good shifts in the third.
