So, yeah…Outchanced 21-9 at ES tells you the Flames were lucky to finish tonight with a point. Granted the Sharks ran things up while chasing in the last 10 minutes of the third, but it’s not like Calgary was truly the better team before that. They themselves chased during other periods in the game, but were never really ahead by the chance count at any point.
A lot of Flames money players got humiliated tonight, starting with Jarome who had his worst game in recent memory – both by eye and in terms of scoring chance differential (-12!). The first line was completely ineffectual. Calgary’s best forward on the ice was David Moss and the numbers reflect that as well. He was +2 at ES and added 2 short-handed chances for good measure. He also led the team with 5 shots on net. Quality player. On the back-end, I really like Regehr’s game this evening. Sarich, on the other hand, was a disaster and he brought Giordano along for the ride.
Calgary scored a couple on Niemi that probably wouldn’t go in most night and the Sharks missed a bunch of 10-bell chances. This one could have been much worse. Forget it and move on.
