Flames Sign Ex-Oiler Ryan Stone

By Kent Wilson

According to TSN, the Flames have inked Calgarian and former Edmonton Oiler Ryan Stone to a one year, two-way deal. The 25 year old has been a journeyman NHLer, having appeared in just 35 games in parts of three seasons. Stone has yet to score an NHL goal and has middling results in the AHL.
On the positive side, Stone is big, aggresive and veteran help for the increasingly young Abbotsford Heat. Some may consider Stone to be in the running for the 4th line centerman role on the Flames, but the same was said of Jason Jaffray last year. My guess is Stone is AHLer fodder unless severe injuries hit.
