Ahead of their six game road trip, the Calgary Flames have made a pair of roster moves. The club has recalled blueliner Dennis Gilbert from the American Hockey League’s Calgary Wranglers and assigned blueliner Nick DeSimone back to the Wranglers.

DeSimone, a right shot blueliner, played four games with the Flames and, in limited usage on the third pairing, had zero points and a minus-4 rating. Gilbert, a left shot blueliner, played two games with the Flames and, in limited usage on the third pairing, had zero points and a minus-1 rating. The swap gives the Flames four left shooting defenders and three right shooting defenders on their active roster – and that includes MacKenzie Weegar and Connor Mackey, who can both play both sides.
DeSimone and Gilbert both have the same cap hits, so it’s a straight swap. The Flames have 22 players on their active roster: two goaltenders, seven defencemen and 13 forwards. Michael Stone is on the injury reserve list and Oliver Kylington is on the non-roster list.
The Flames open their six game road trip on Thursday night in Tampa Bay.
