Well, what else did you expect?
Longtime Calgary Flames defenceman and current Seattle Kraken captain @Mark Giordano scored just 5:48 into his first career game against his former team, giving the Kraken a 1–0 lead early in the first period on Thursday.
Kraken forward @Calle Jarnkrok sent a pass into the slot that barely missed its intended recipient, @Colin Blackwell, before making its way onto Giordano’s stick. The former Flames captain fired a pinpoint accurate wrister past @Jacob Markstrom for his fourth goal with Seattle.
Blackwell and Jarnkrok picked up the assists on Giordano’s goal, shown below in a tweet from Sportsnet.
Less than five minutes after Giordano’s icebreaker, Flames forward @Johnny Gaudreau responded to tie the game. @Nikita Zadorov and @Matthew Tkachuk recorded the helpers on Gaudreau’s 11th of the season.
Giordano played 16 seasons with the Flames from 2005 to 2021 before joining the Kraken in July’s expansion draft. The 38-year-old defenceman has four goals and nine points in his first 26 games with Seattle.
Calgary remains tied 1–1 with Seattle late in the first period. Thursday’s game is the Flames’ first since a massive COVID-19 outbreak kept the team on the sidelines for three weeks.
