The Calgary Flames are missing a lot of bodies. Heading into yesterday’s game in Philadelphia, they were dealing with five injured regular players. While players could start returning fairly soon, it might be awhile before they get everybody back.
Here’s a snapshot of how the injury outlook.

Andrew Mangiapane

Mangiapane broke his nose in Thursday’s game against St. Louis when he was hit by Vince Dunn. He was cleared to play on Saturday and played wearing a plastic bubble.

TJ Brodie

Brodie had his fainting spell last Thursday and is presently on the injury reserve retroactive to that incident. Because he’s been on the IR for a week already, he’s eligible to be activated at any time.
He has gotten through all his testing related to his incident and began skating with the team on Sunday morning in Pittsburgh.

Travis Hamonic

Hamonic is not on the road trip after suffering a lower body injury in Vegas on Nov. 17. He’s still on the active roster so he’s eligible to return at any time.

Sam Bennett

Bennett is not on the road trip after suffering an upper body injury in Arizona on Nov. 16. He’s on the long-term injury reserve retroactive to that injury. He’s eligible to return beginning Dec. 11.

Austin Czarnik

Czarnik is on the LTIR retroactive to suffering a lower body injury on Oct. 24 at home against Florida. He’s expected back around Christmas and he’s eligible to be activated at any time.

Juuso Valimaki

Valimaki is rehabbing from knee surgery in the fall. He’s on the LTIR retroactive to the summer and eligible to return whenever. No definitive timeline has been shared for his return, likely because they need to see how his knee responds to rehab.
Additionally, prospect Dmitry Zavgorodniy is expected to miss 8-12 weeks with a broken collar bone. His return will be likely sometime in January or February.
