Jade Iginla invited to Team Canada’s U18 national women’s team selection camp

Folks, a member of the Iginla family will be vying for a spot on Team Canada over the holidays this year. But rather than two-time Olympic gold medalist Jarome Iginla, recently inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, it’s his daughter Jade’s turn to take the spotlight.
Jade Iginla is one of 40 players battling for spots on the national women’s under-18 team.
Jade, 17, played with Dexter Prep (in the Boston area) and Shattuck St. Mary’s before joining Kelowna’s prestigious Rink Hockey Academy this season. Younger brothers Tij, 15, and Joe, 13, are also playing at the Rink Hockey Academy, albeit on boys teams in different age groups than Jade plays in.
Jade’s father represented Canada at several big international tournaments and it’s really exciting to see his eldest child get a chance to do the same this winter.
The selection camp runs Dec. 27-Jan. 1 in St. Catherines, Ontario. The 2022 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship goes Jan. 8-15 in in Linköping and Mjölby, Sweden.
