Calgary Flames @Oliver Kylington broke his team’s goalless deadlock against the Toronto Maple Leafs with a tremendous end-to-end marker in the third period on Friday.
Kylington picked up the puck in his own end and skated it out of the zone before sending it over to a streaking @Johnny Gaudreau at the red line. With Gaudreau in possession over the Leafs’ blue line, Kylington darted toward the net and received a leading pass with nobody but goaltender @Jack Campbell in front of him.
He made no mistake, dragging the puck over to his backhand and elevating it over the sprawling Leafs netminder to give the Flames a 1-0 lead. Gaudreau picked up the lone assist on Kylington’s second goal of the season.
Kylington now has nine points on the season, all of which have come in his last nine games. Prior to 2021–22, Kylington’s career-high mark for points in a season was eight, which he reached in 38 games during the 2018–19 campaign.
Only 16 NHL defencemen have more points than Kylington this season. He leads all Flames rearguards in scoring.
The Flames currently lead the Maple Leafs by a 1-0 score late in the third period.
