The 2021–22 Calgary Flames season is less than a month old, but defenceman @Oliver Kylington has already tied his single-season career-high mark with his eighth point of the campaign.

Kylington picked up the secondary assist on @Mikael Backlund’s opening goal early in the first period of Thursday’s game against the Montreal Canadiens.

The 24-year-old defenceman passed the puck back to a @Trevor Lewis, who was covering Kylington’s spot at the point. Lewis flung a shot towards the Canadiens net that Backlund was able to deflect past goaltender @Jake Allen.

Calgary and Montreal are currently tied at one late in the first period.

Kylington previously scored eight points (three goals, five assists) in 38 games with the Flames in the 2018–19 season. He added seven more points (two goals, five assists) in 48 games in 2019–20 before registering a lone assist in eight contests with Calgary in 2020–21.

Between Oct. 26 and Nov. 6, 2021, Kylington recorded points in six consecutive Flames games. He picked up one goal and six assists in that span before his streak came to an end in the Flames’ 4-1 loss to the San Jose Sharks on Nov. 9.

The Flames initially selected Kylington with the 60th overall pick in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He now has six goals and 24 points in 107 career NHL games, all with Calgary.

Kylington is set to become a restricted free agent at the end of the 2021–22 season. He signed a one-year deal worth $750,000 with Calgary on Aug. 9, 2021.
