@Mikael Backlund is the latest Calgary Flames player to enter the National Hockey League’s COVID-19 protocol, the team announced Friday.
In addition to Backlund, a member of the team’s support staff has also entered protocol.
Backlund is the 19th Flames player to enter COVID-19 protocol. After Friday’s update, the Flames are up to 32 total cases.
The following four players remain out of COVID-19 protocol for the time being:
- Blake Coleman
- Matthew Tkachuk
- Dan Vladar
- Michael Stone
Also on Friday, the NHL announced the postponement of two additional Flames games. Calgary’s contests against Anaheim on Dec. 21 and Seattle on Dec. 23 have now been delayed.
The Flames are currently scheduled to return on Dec. 27 against the Edmonton Oilers.
