The Calgary Flames are high on the list of teams trying to acquire pending RFA forward Martin Necas from the Carolina Hurricanes Daily Faceoff hockey insider Frank Seravalli indicated <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ERCMyTZKPis">on Monday&#8217;s episode</a> of FlamesNation&#8216;s Barn Burner show.
During his regular appearance on the Calgary podcast, Seravalli touched upon a wide range of topics and spoke at length about the situation with Necas, who is a year removed from scoring 71 points in 82 games with the Hurricanes.
The Vancouver Canucks have been extensively connected with Necas over the past few weeks, but Seravalli mentioned that the Flames are also very much among the interested teams in the market for the 25-year-old forward.

Think of Sharangovich, guy that&#8217;s put up decent numbers that never really was gonna have the opportunity to do so based on the depth chart that was in front of him, that [the] team had to move. The difference between Sharangovich, which the Flames were able to be an early identifier on, and Necas, is everyone has seen this, they&#8217;ve already seen a 71-point season as a 24-year-old and they&#8217;re going, &#8216;Yeah, wait, so you have Svechnikov and you have Seth Jarvis — oh, and you need to pay Seth Jarvis, and you don&#8217;t really pay guys market rate anyway. What&#8217;s it going to cost for us to get our hands on Necas?&#8217; So, he&#8217;s certainly a very hot commodity, is my understanding, and the interest has been so strong that there were some rumblings over the weekend &#8230; is there any chance this deal gets done that quickly? What&#8217;s it going to take for Carolina to pull the trigger? Keep an eye on Calgary, Vancouver, and I would add in Columbus, but I&#8217;m sure the list is much longer than that. I think it&#8217;s eight to 10 teams deep.</blockquote>
The Hurricanes originally selected Necas with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft. Over his first seven NHL seasons with the Hurricanes, the Czech forward has collected 97 goals and 243 points in 362 games while adding 11 goals and 30 points in 59 playoff contests.
