Notes and expectations

The Wranglers had the week to practice at home before travelling out of town for this series. Wednesday was their last practice before hitting the road and Ivan Prosvetov, Lucas Ciona and Jonathan Castagna did not practice. Artem Grushnikov was back with the team in a no-contact jersey so those four are likely ruled out for these games.
On the Flames side, they did end up using their last recall of the season on Rory Kerins. Kerins got into the lineup for Calgary’s game against the Colorado Avalanche on Tuesday and their season closer on Thursday against the Los Angeles Kings. Also still up with the Flames on Thursday was Aydar Suniev and Arsenii Sergeev. Sergeev was called up to the Flames on an emergency recall basis as Devin Cooley was ruled out with an illness. It was confirmed in the morning skate that he would get his first NHL start against the Kings and ended up picking up his first NHL win. These three will likely return to the Wranglers and may not be available for Friday’s game, but should be ready for Saturday.
As far as ATO signings since their last game, the Wranglers added right shot defenceman Kent Anderson this week. Anderson led the University of Denver to a National Championship last weekend as Captain of the squad. He also played with Carter King the last three seasons and they won a National Championship in 2023-24. Anderson’s had a whirlwind of a week but looks forward to this opportunity with the Wranglers. The Calgary native not only gets a chance with his hometown team, but is also anticipating his first professional games in his University state. He said:
“It’s great. It’s a rink I’m familiar with. We were lucky enough to play a couple of games there in our Regional out there in Loveland. So it’s nice to have a familiar arena and obviously being in Colorado, it’s great.”
This final series of the year kicks off on Friday at 7:05 p.m. MT and continues on Saturday for a puck drop at the same time. Streaming options are available for a fee on Flo Hockey and the radio broadcast will be carried by the Fan960. FlamesNation contributors, Ryan Pike and I will have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
