Notes and expectations
Since the last time the Wranglers played, there was only one transaction. Brennan Othmann returned to the AHL after his two game stint with the Flames. Aydar Suniev was called up before the Laval Rocket series last weekend but made his season debut with the Flames on Tuesday. All signs lead to Rory Kerins earning that fifth and final call-up and he’s going to continue playing this weekend like that’s the reality.
Calgary is on a good run right now. Their last three games have been one of their best stretches of the season. They played the Colorado Eagles, who sit second in the Pacific Division and the Laval Rocket who are first in the North Division and were very competitive in all three games. Two out of the three were decided by one goal and Calgary put up a demanding 5-2 win over Laval on Good Friday. Head coach Brett Sutter talked about some of the things that went into that shift. Sutter said:
“We just had a good talk about mentality and character that we could should show down the stretch here. I think you can look at the season, we’ve had a lot of moving parts. We got guys playing some really big roles right now and there’s opportunity for them to step up and make an impact overnight. I think everyone’s grabbed ahold of we’re playing a team game and buying in. We’ve got four big games coming up and we’re taking them as if they’re playoff games.”
This series starts on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. MT and continues for a back to back on Saturday at 6:00 p.m. MT. Tickets are still available to catch the last Wranglers home games of the year and streaming options are available for a fee on Flo Hockey.
