Stop me if you’ve heard this one before.
The Calgary Flames posted a shutout tonight, defeating the fearsome Boston Bruins at TD Garden by a 4–0 score.
Flames goaltender @Dan Vladar recorded his second shutout in as many games — and the second shutout of his career — between the pipes on Sunday. He stopped all 27 Bruins shots he faced to elevate his own personal record this season to 4–0–1 with a .945 save percentage.
Vladar has two shutouts in five games played this season. His counterpart, Jacob Markström, has a league-leading five shutouts in 14 appearances.
The Flames have more shutouts than seven other NHL teams have wins this season. With just 36 goals against in 19 games, the Flames currently have the inside track towards the William M. Jennings Trophy for the lowest goals-against average in the NHL.
Vladar spent six years in the Bruins organization after being drafted by the club in 2015, eventually making his first five NHL regular-season appearances with the club in 2020–21. He posted a 2–2–1 record last season to go along with an .886 save percentage. Boston traded Vladar to the Flames on July 28, 2021.
Calgary will return to action for a game against Chicago at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Nov. 23.
