It’s the 4 Nations Face-Off break, so it’s time to check in on how teams in the Pacific Division are doing.
The race for first place in the division is between the Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights, with both teams sitting on 72 points. Sitting at the top of the division are the Oilers, who have the tiebreaker thanks to fewer games played. However, the Golden Knights have five additional regulation wins.
There’s also a battle for third place in the division, with the Los Angeles Kings (29-17-7 with 65 points), Vancouver Canucks (26-18-11 with 63 points), and Calgary Flames (26-21-8 with 60 points) all vying for the spot. The Canucks sit in the final Wild Card spot.
Of course, the bottom of the division is mediocre, as per usual. The Anaheim Ducks have a 24-24-6 record with 54 points, the Seattle Kraken are 24-29-4 with 52 points, and the San Jose Sharks are 15-35-7 with 37 points.
With that being said, let’s take a look at What’s Going On In The Pacific Division!
Anaheim Ducks
Despite being in the “mediocre” portion of the Pacific Division, the Anaheim Ducks have won six of their last seven games, with the one loss coming against the Calgary Flames. Since the last WGOITPD, they picked up a shootout win against the Los Angeles Kings.
Troy Terry’s 39 points lead the team while his 16 goals are tied for the team lead along with Frank Vatrano. Ryan Strome has 30 points, like Vatrano, while Mason McTavish has 13 goals and 27 points. In net, John Gibson has been the topic of trade rumours lately as he has a .915 save percentage and a 2.65 goals against average in 23 games. Lukáš Dostál has a .911 save percentage and a 2.86 goals against average.
The Ducks don’t play until Feb. 22, when they’ll head to Boston to face the Bruins. Afterward, they’ll face the Detroit Red Wings and Buffalo Sabres, both on the road.
Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames played twice this past week, falling 4-2 to the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday and blowing a two-goal lead on Saturday, falling 3-2 in overtime to the Seattle Kraken.
Leading the team in both goals and points is Jonathan Huberdeau, as he’s done for most of the season, scoring 21 goals and 41 points. Nazem Kadri isn’t far behind, as he has 19 goals and 40 points in 55 games. They have five other players with double-digit goals. In net, Dustin Wolf has a 19-11-3 record with two shutouts, a .912 save percentage, and a 2.63 goals against average in 33 games.

The Flames don’t return to action until Sunday, Feb. 23 as they host the San Jose Sharks. They’ll then head on a road trip, starting with a game against the Washington Capitals.
Edmonton Oilers
Before the break, the Edmonton Oilers won a 4-3 game against the Chicago Blackhawks in overtime, before falling 5-4 to the Colorado Avalanche in an exciting game. Although they sit at the top of the Pacific Division, they have five fewer regulation wins than the Vegas Golden Knights, the first tiebreaker aside from games played.
Leon Draisaitl has been carrying this team all season. The German has 40 goals and 83 points in 55 points, leading the league in goals and just four points behind Nathan MacKinnon for the league-leading in points. Connor McDavid has 22 goals and 71 points but as per usual, those two are carrying the load. In net, Stuart Skinner has a .900 save percentage and a 2.74 goals against average in 37 games played.

The Oilers return on Feb. 22 starting an Eastern Conference road trip. First up is a game against the Philadelphia Flyers, before facing the Washington Capitals and Tampa Bay Lightning.
Los Angeles Kings
Of any Pacific Division team, the Los Angeles Kings had the busiest weak. They defeated the Montréal Canadiens 6-3, followed by a 5-4 win against the Dallas Stars. However, they fell 2-1 in a shootout to the Anaheim Ducks.
Adrian Kempe leads the team in goals (25) and points (46). Anže Kopitar has 45 points and 13 goals, while Kevin Fiala has 21 goals and 35 points. Alex Laferriere scored a goal for the first time in a while, sitting on 14 for the season, the same number as Warren Foegele. In net, Darcy Kuemper has been terrific, posting a .919 save percentage and a 2.15 goals against average in 29 games played.
The Kings return on Feb. 22 with a continuation of their homestand. They’ll host the Utah Hockey Club on Saturday before the Vegas Golden Knights roll into town on the 24th.
San Jose Sharks
Water is wet, the sky is blue, and the San Jose Sharks lost. This past week, they fell 2-1 in overtime to the Vancouver Canucks before being blown out 8-3 by the Dallas Stars.
With Mikael Granlund being traded, Macklin Celebrini is tied for the team in points with 40 and is second in goals with 17. William Eklund also has 40 points (and 11 goals) while Tyler Toffoli leads the team with 20 goals this season. Between the crease has been a disaster for the Sharks, though. Alexandar Georgiev has an .875 save percentage and a 4.01 goals against average since joining the team. Vítek Vaněček has been ever so slightly better, posting an .878 save percentage and a 4.01 goals against average in 16 games played.

The Sharks return on Feb. 23 with a back-to-back against the Calgary Flames and the Winnipeg Jets.
Seattle Kraken
The Seattle Kraken played two games this past week, falling 3-1 to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Thursday, before coming back from a 2-0 deficit in the third period to defeat the Calgary Flames. Not good.
Leading the team in points is Jared McCann, who has 14 goals and 42 points. Chandler Stephenson isn’t far behind in the point total with 40, while Jaden Schwartz has 18 goals and 36 points this season. They have a whole bunch of double-digit goal scorers, nine to be exact. In net, Joey Daccord has a .916 save percentage and a 2.46 goals against average in 38 games.
FINNTASTIC
Like the Flames and the Edmonton Oilers, the Kraken will return on a road trips, starting it off against the Florida Panthers on Feb. 22, before playing a back-to-back against the Tampa Bay Lighting. They’ll also face off against the St. Louis Blues.
Vancouver Canucks
The Vancouver Canucks are on a roll, which is bad news for the Calgary Flames. This week, the Canucks defeated the San Jose Sharks 2-1 in overtime, the same score (but in regulation) they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs. They now have a three-point lead over the Flames for the final Wild Card spot.
Defenceman Quinn Hughes didn’t play in either of those games but still leads the team with 59 points with 14 goals to boot. Leading the team in goals is Jake DeBrusk with 19, while Brock Boeser has 18 goals and 35 points. Conor Garland and Pius Suter each have 14 goals. In net, Kevin Lankinen has a .905 save percentage and a 2.53 goals against average while Thatcher Demko has an .891 save percentage and a 2.87 goals against average.

The Canucks return on Feb. 22, heading to Sin City to face the Vegas Golden Knights. It’s a back-to-back game, as they’ll travel to Salt Lake City to play the Utah Hockey Club.
Vegas Golden Knights
After heading into last week with a 3-8-3 record in their last 14 games, the Vegas Golden Knights won their final two games to go into the break – a 3-1 victory over the New Jersey Devils and a 4-3 win over the Boston Bruins.
Jack Eichel has 69 points to lead the team, along with 19 goals, third-most on the team. Pavel Dorofeyev leads the team with 23 goals while Tomáš Hertl has 21 goals and 42 points. Defenceman Shea Theodore has seven goals and 48 points and captain Mark Stone has 14 goals and 49 points. In net, Adin Hill has a .900 save percentage and a 2.64 goals against average in 34 games played.
