It seems as if the Pacific Division has its division contenders, wild card contenders, and lottery bound teams.
As of Monday evening, the Vegas Golden Knights lead the Pacific Division with an 18-7-3 record for 39 points, followed by the Los Angeles Kings who have a 17-8-3 record for 37 points. Third in the division are the Edmonton Oilers, who have a 16-10-2 record for 34 points, followed by the Vancouver Canucks (14-8-5) and Calgary Flames (14-10-5), both teams have 33 points.
The Kraken have played better as of late and have a 14-14-2 record for 30 points, still around the Wild Card spots. However, the San Jose Sharks’ have played a league-leading 31 games and have a 10-16-5 record for 25 points, while the Anaheim Ducks have a 10-12-4 record for 24 points, the fewest in the division
With all that being said, let’s take a look at What’s Going On In The Pacific Division!
Anaheim Ducks
Since last Thursday’s article, the Ducks have played two games, falling 5-1 to the Minnesota Wild on Friday and losing 3-2 in shootout to the Montréal Canadiens.
Goaltending remains strong for the Ducks, as Lukáš Dostál has a .921 save percentage and a 2.67 goals-against average in 16 games, while John Gibson has a .914 save percentage and a 2.63 goals-against average in eight games. Scoring remains and issue for the team though, as Troy Terry’s eight goals and 21 points lead the team, follow by Frank Vatrano’s six goals and 13 points, while Leo Carlsson also has six goals.
The Ducks are one of just four teams in action on Wednesday, as they play the Ottawa Senators, before heading to Toronto to face the Maple Leafs on Thursday. To wrap up their week, they’ll play the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.
Calgary Flames
As you’d expect from the Calgary Flames, they were 1-1-1 with a 4-3 win, yes they scored four goals in a game for the first time in 25 games, over the Nashville Predators, a 6-2 loss to the Dallas Stars, and a 4-3 overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues.
Jonathan Huberdeau leads the team in both goals (10) and points (19), with Nazem Kadri not trailing too far behind, as he has nine goals and 18 points. Defenceman MacKenzie Weegar has four goals and 16 points, while Rasmus Andersson has six goals and 15 points. Dustin Wolf has been the better of their two goalies, as he has a .909 save percentage and a 2.84 goals-against average in 14 games played.

This week, the Flames will start a five-game home stand, playing games against the Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and the Boston Bruins.
Edmonton Oilers
The Calgary Flames’ little brother, the Edmonton Oilers, seemingly have figured it out, as they won all three games they played this past week, defeating the Columbus Blue Jackets, St. Louis Blues, and Tampa Bay Lightning. Over their last 14 games, they are 10-3-1.
After a slow start (by his standards), Connor McDavid has gotten going, scoring 14 goals and 38 points in 25 games. Leon Draisaitl leads the league with 20 goals and also has 38 points, while defenceman Evan Bouchard has six goals and 20 points. Netminder Stuart Skinner has been much better as of late, as he now has a .895 save percentage and a 2.81 goals-against average and has a .925 over his last seven games.
Connor just out for an evening stroll through Tampa Bay 😌 #LetsGoOilers
This week, the Oilers have a one-game road trip against the Minnesota Wild, before returning home to face the Vegas Golden Knights and the Florida Panthers. Pretty tough schedule for the team.
Los Angeles Kings
The Los Angeles Kings are cruising despite losing their best defenceman, Drew Doughty, to injury in preseason. This past week, they defeated the Minnesota Wild and the New York Islanders, the latter started a lengthy seven-game road trip.
Stop me if you’ve heard this before, Anže Kopitar leads the team with 32 points with eight goals in 28 games. Adrian Kempe’s 14 goals lead the team, with Alex Laferriere (12) and Kevin Fiala (10) not trailing too far behind. Darcy Kuemper has played well since returning, as he has a .910 save percentage and a 2.29 goals-against average in 12 games played.
Kevin Fiala my goodness 😍
This week, the Kings continue their seven-game road trip, facing the New Jersey Devils, New York Rangers, and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
San Jose Sharks
The San Jose Sharks are clearly not going to make the postseason, but their good play has evaporated this past week, as they were 0-3-0 with losses to the Tampa Bay Lightning, Florida Panthers, and the Carolina Hurricanes. They also traded netminder Mackenzie Blackwood to the Colorado Avalanche.
Mikael Granlund has been terrific for the Sharks, as he has 10 goals and 30 points to lead the team in the latter category. Former Flame Tyler Toffoli leads the team with 11 goals, while youngster William Eklund has five goals and 24 points. Vítek Vaněček has played 13 games with the Sharks, including Tuesday’s game, and has an .883 save percentage and a 3.83 goals-against average. Recently acquired Alexandar Georgiev will surely play some games soon as well.

This week, the Sharks will end their road trip with a game against the St. Louis Blues, before hosting the Utah Hockey Club and the Winnipeg Jets.
Seattle Kraken
It was a busy week for the Seattle Kraken, as they played four games and had a 2-1-1 record, with wins over the two New York City teams, along with a 3-2 loss to the New Jersye Devils and a 2-1 shootout loss to the Florida Panthers.
Jared McCann leads the team with 10 goals and 24 points, while Oliver Bjorkstrand (nine goals) and Chandler Stephenson (three goals) each have 20 points. Defenceman Brandon Montour has seven goals and 19 points. Joey Daccord has become the team’s starter, as he has a 12-6-2 record in 20 games, along with a .916 save percentage and a 2.42 goals-against average.

The Kraken host the Boston Bruins, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Ottawa Senators this coming week.
Vancouver Canucks
Like the Calgary Flames, the Vancouver Canucks went 1-1-1, with an overtime loss to the St. Louis Blues (ironically, that game ended 4-3), a win over the Columbus Blue Jackets, and a 4-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Thatcher Demko returned for the Canucks on Tuesday, saving 21 of 25 shots for an .840 save percentage against the Blues. Kevin Lankinen filled in admirably for the Canucks, as he had a .908 save percentage and a 2.65 goals-against average in 20 games. Leading the team in points is captain Quinn Hughes, who has 32 points, while Jake DeBrusk’s 13 goals lead the team. Elias Pettersson has eight goals and 26 points, while Conor Garland has eight goals and 25 points.
This week, the Canucks host the Florida Panthers, Boston Bruins, and Colorado Avalanche.
Vegas Golden Knights
Lastly, the Vegas Golden Knights still lead the Pacific Division despite playing just one game this past week – a 3-2 win against the Dallas Stars, the team that beat them in the first round of the postseason.
Captain Mark Stone returned in that game, as he has six goals and 22 points in 14 games. Leading the team in goals is Ivan Barbashev, who has 13 of them along with 28 points. Jack Eichel’s 39 points lead the team, while Pavel Dorofeyev and Brett Howden each have double-digit goals. Netminder Adin Hill has overcome a tough start and now has a .905 save percentage and a 2.63 goals-against average in 18 games.
take a look at that celly. a thing of beauty 🤩
This week, the Golden Knights head on a three-game road trip against the Winnipeg Jets, Edmonton Oilers, and Minnesota Wild, a tough schedule ahead for them.
