The 2024-25 season is chugging along, as some teams are already 10 or more games into the season.
Since the last What’s Going On In The Pacific Division (WGOITPD), the Calgary Flames are on a three-game losing streak, the Vancouver Canucks still only have one regulation loss, and the Vegas Golden Knights still lead the division.
Let’s dig in!

Anaheim Ducks

The Anaheim Ducks played three games since last week’s article, losing 2-1 to the New York Rangers and 6-2 to the New Jersey Devils, before defeating the New York Islanders 3-1 on Tuesday. They now have a record of 4-4-1, tied for sixth in the division.
Lukáš Dostál looks like a legitimate starter this season, as he has a .943 save percentage and a 2.00 goals-against average through seven games. James Reimer has only played two games with an .864 save percentage.
In terms of scoring, Troy Terry leads the way with five goals and eight points, while sophomore Leo Carlsson has two goals and six points and Ryan Strome has three goals and five points.

Calgary Flames

Last week, the Calgary Flames had a 5-0-1 record, but have been on a skid since then, losing all three of the games they’ve played. The Carolina Hurricanes defeated them 4-2, the Jets beat them 5-3, and the Golden Knights shut them out 5-0.
Defenceman Rasmus Andersson has been by far their best played, scoring four goals and 10 points, tied for the lead in the former and leading the latter. Jonathan Huberdeau and Nazem Kadri also have four goals, while MacKenzie Weegar has three goals. In total, 11 Flames players have four or more points, a positive sign.
Of the two goalies, Dustin Wolf has been better, as he has a .924 save percentage and a 2.74 goals-against average in four games played. Daniel Vladař has an .895 save percentage and a 3.18 goals-against average in five games but has been better than the stats suggest.

Edmonton Oilers

For the second consecutive season, the Oilers have had a slow start to their year. After a 0-3-0 start, the Oilers managed to go 4-1-1 before a disastrous loss in Columbus on Monday. Since the last article, the Oilers shut out the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-0, defeated the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 in overtime, and lost 6-1 to the Blue Jackets.
In that game on Monday, captain Connor McDavid played one shift as he was tripped at the blue line. He didn’t return and is out for a few weeks at the very least. This season, McDavid has three goals and 10 points in 10 games, tied for the team lead with Leon Draisaitl, who has six goals and 10 points. Defenceman Mattias Ekholm has had a solid season, scoring two goals and eight points, while Evan Bouchard has three goals and six points.
Goaltending has been horrific for the Oilers, simply put. So far, Stuart Skinner has an .872 save percentage and a 3.51 goals-against average in seven games, with a 2-4-1 record. Backup Calvin Pickard has played four games with a 2-1-0 record, posting an .875 save percentage and a 2.91 goals-against average.

Los Angeles Kings

After starting the season on a seven-game road trip, the Los Angeles Kings returned home on Thursday. They defeated the San Jose Sharks 3-2, before another 3-2 win on Saturday. However, the Sharks got their win back on Tuesday, beating the Kings 4-2.
Captain Anže Kopitar leads the team in points with nine, while Alex Laferriere, Adrian Kempe, and Brandt Clarke each have eight points. Laferriere leads the team with five goals, while Kevin Fiala, who was scratched Tuesday due to being late for a meeting, has four goals.
Darcy Kuemper returned from the injured reserve and has an .897 save percentage and a 3.20 goals-against average in four games played. Former Flame David Rittich filled in while Kuemper was injured, and has an .870 save percentage and a 3.09 goals-against average.

San Jose Sharks

The San Jose Sharks lost two consecutive games on Thursday and Saturday to give them a nine-game losing streak but picked up their first win on Monday. On Tuesday, they defeated the Los Angeles Kings for a back-to-back win.
Former Flame Tyler Toffoli is tied for the team lead in goals with six points, while also picking up 10 points. Mikael Granlund, who is set to become a free agent at the end of the season, has five goals and 13 points in 11 games. Fabian Zetterlund also has six goals.
After a good start, both netminders for the Sharks are below the .900 save percentage mark. Mackenzie Blackwood has an .888 save percentage and a 3.89 goals-against average in six games played. Vítek Vaněček hasn’t been any better, as he has an .879 save percentage and a 3.65 goals-against average.

Seattle Kraken

Since the last WGOITPD article, the Seattle Kraken lost 4-3 in overtime to the Winnipeg Jets, before a 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Carolina Hurricanes. On Tuesday, they had an emphatic 8-2 victory over the Montréal Canadiens.
Jared McCann has had a great start to his season, scoring five goals and 14 points in 10 games. Captain Jordan Eberle leads the team with six goals, along with nine points, while defenceman Brandon Montour also has four goals and nine points. Fellow 2024 free agent signing, Chandler Stephenson, has a goal and eight points, while Ryker Evans, matty Beniers, and Andre Burakovsky each have six points.
Joey Daccord has been great between the pipes, posting a .914 save percentage and a 2.80 goals-against average in six games, along with a 4-1-1 record. Philipp Grubauer hasn’t had the same success, posting an .881 save percentage and a 3.10 goals-against average in four games with a 1-3-0 record.

Vancouver Canucks

Of any team in the Pacific Division, the Vancouver Canucks played the fewest games since the last WGOITPD. On Saturday, they overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-3, before losing 4-3 in overtime to the Carolina Hurricanes. This season, they are 4-1-3.
Brock Boeser leads the team in goals with five, along with being tied for the team lead in points with nine. J.T. Miller has four goals and nine points, while defenceman Quinn Hughes has two goals and eight points in eight games. Six other players have at least two goals this season.

This season, the Finnish netminder has a .920 save percentage and a 2.29 goals-against average in six games played, with a 4-0-2 record. Artūrs Šilovs has only played two games and has an .827 save percentage and a 4.50 goals-against average.

Vegas Golden Knights

Through 10 games, the Vegas Golden Knights have the best record in the Pacific Division, with a 7-2-1 record. Since the last WGOITPD article, they are 3-0 with wins over the Ottawa Senators (6-4), San Jose Sharks (7-3) and Calgary Flames (5-0).
