It’s the last two Calgary Wranglers games before Christmas and thankfully for the team and their fans, they are at home. Calgary hosts the Henderson Silver Knights this Friday and Sunday for a two game series. This is their third series of the year and the record between these two is 3-1-0 for Calgary. Sunday is especially exciting with it being their first annual Winter Wranglerfest and their largest projected crowd of the season.

Notes and expectations
The Flames’ AHL team is going to want to take a least one if not both of these games going into the holiday break. They’re on a three game losing skid and really didn’t have their best showing the last few games. Most recently, they lost to the Ontario Reign on Wednesday with a 2-1 final score. Thanks to their starting goalie, Devin Cooley, there wasn’t a larger difference in the scoring as they only put up 14 shots in the whole 60 minutes.
Hopefully, the shots make their return this weekend along with their captain. Clark Bishop was out of the last game and that changed up the line combinations quite a bit. If he doesn’t replace one of the other regulars in the lineup, we may see lines similar to that of their games against Coachella Valley last weekend.
The Wranglers have already re-acquainted themselves with their former teammate, Mitch McLain. McLain spent the last two seasons with the Wranglers before being picked up by the Vegas Golden Knights organization over the offseason. McLain has seven points on the season going into these games and two of those came against Calgary on Nov. 9. That game is the only one Henderson has won so far against the Wranglers this year and McLain earned himself the third star in that one. Depending on the upcoming game situations, he may be a player to keep an eye out for on the other side of the ice.
This series starts on Friday evening with a 7:00 p.m. puck drop at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Game two will be on Sunday afternoon for a matinee match-up at 1:00 p.m. MT. Tickets are available for both games if you’d like to catch the action in person. Otherwise, the Fan960 will have the radio stream and Flo Hockey will have the paid video stream. Multiple FlamesNation contributors will also have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
