The Calgary Wranglers reunite with the Colorado Eagles for the first time since their opening weekend series on Oct. 10 and 11. Calgary fell in both of those games and have yet to put up a win against the Colorado Avalanche affiliate this season. They will host them for two games this week, on Tuesday and on New Year’s Day to try and get their first win against their fellow Pacific Division team.

Notes and expectations
This series is the first games the Colorado Eagles have played since the holiday break. The Wranglers have been back in action since, playing a two game set against the Tucson Roadrunners last weekend where they only picked up one out of a possible four points on the weekend. Their last game on Sunday was their best showing with a 3-2 overtime loss.
The Eagles were last in action on Dec. 20 and 21, where they hosted the Henderson Silver Knights and picked up the sweep. Both games were decided by one goal in overtime. Colorado is the beast in the Pacific, sitting at the top of the standings with a 19-6-0-1 record. They are also fifth in the league going into this series against Calgary. However, they have played the least amount of games in the league with just 26 games played. This is six less than Calgary.
The Wranglers just missed a reunion with Ilya Solovyov, who the organization lost on waivers earlier this Fall. Solovyov was down with the Eagles for three games and last played in their game against the Henderson Silver Knights on Dec. 20. Solovyov has since been called back up to the Colorado Avalanche but has not played an NHL game since Nov. 1. He sits at nine NHL games and three AHL games but has not registered a point in either league.
On the injury side of things, Calgary will play these games likely without Aydar Suniev and Ivan Prosvetov, who remain on week-to-week injury status and potentially Matvei Gridin. Gridin was listed as day-to-day with an upper body injury as of Sunday so may or may not be back for one or both of these games.
This series starts on Tuesday with a 6:00 p.m. MT puck drop then continues into Thursday to ring in the new year with a 1:00 p.m. MT puck drop. Tickets are available for both games and you can stream them for a fee on Flo Hockey. FlamesNation contributors, Ryan Pike and I will have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
