The Calgary Wranglers have already played a back to back series against the Bakersfield Condors earlier this week and have another one this weekend against the Henderson Silver Knights. They split their last two games finishing off with a 4-0 win on Wednesday. Their winning streak had to be restarted but the Wranglers still sit at the top of the league standings going into this series with the exceptional first month of hockey they played.

Notes and expectations
The Flames put Anthony Mantha on the IR earlier this week so they needed a reinforcement from the AHL. There are quite a few good options with the Wranglers right now and they chose Dryden Hunt for this call-up. Without Hunt in this series, Walker Duehr or Adam Klapka will likely be on the top line alongside Rory Kerins and Jakob Pelletier. Pelletier and Kerins have remained consistently together with Matt Coronato slotting on the wing when he was down in the AHL briefly. The lines will take a little shifting against Henderson and Ilya Nikolaev will likely get back into the lineup down on the fourth line.
Another expected lineup choice for this series is a game for Waltteri Ignatjew. After Devin Cooley played the back-to-back on Tuesday and Wednesday, it seems Ignatjew would be a favourable starter for Saturday’s game. Cooley has been hot and arguably the best in the league, but two back-to-backs in one week is probably not the best idea if you want to keep him sharp and healthy.
Another emerging positive with the Wranglers is the recent play of William Stromgren. Stromgren had primary assists in two of the Wranglers’ four goals on Wednesday and is up to six points in the last four games. Prior to that, he just had one assist in the first eight games of the season. Stromgren did have that first-year in North America adjustment last year and has been looking back up to speed again in recent games. He’s been creating opportunities, looking a bit quicker and has been spending time in bigger game points such as late period shifts and on the top power play units.
This upcoming match-up with the Silver Knights is another team the Wranglers have already seen once this year. While on their California road trip last month, they made a stop in Nevada for a couple of games against the Silver Knights. They were higher scoring games with the first one ending in a 5-3 win and the second ending in a 4-0 win. The Silver Knights have only won one of their last five games so the Wranglers are definitely the favourites in these upcoming games.
This series kicks off on Saturday night with a 6:00 p.m. MT puck drop. It’ll be a quick turnaround with game two taking place on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. MT. You can catch these games in person before the Wranglers hit the road for the rest of the month or stream them for a fee on AHL.tv on Flo Hockey. Sportsnet 960 The Fan will also have the radio call and multiple FlamesNation contributors will have updates on X (formerly Twitter).
