Flames recall Ryan Lomberg from Stockton

Playing their second game in as many nights, against their most hated foe, and in the midst of a three-game (overtime) losing streak, the Calgary Flames have made a roster move. The club has recalled forward Ryan Lomberg from the American Hockey League’s Stockton Heat.
Lomberg was previously recalled before the Flames’ game in Carolina on Jan. 14, spending one day in the NHL as a healthy scratch as insurance in case a forward was injured in warmup. He’s been a great agitator in Stockton and is a guy who can play with skilled players when called upon, so it’ll be interesting to see if Glen Gulutzan utilizes him for some energy tonight in Edmonton. He has 14 points in 36 games with the Heat this season.
The Flames now have 23 players on their roster. Three of them – Lomberg, Marek Hrivik and Andrew Mangiapane – are waiver exempt and are likely headed back to the AHL after tonight’s game.
