The healthy stretch for the Calgary Flames is officially over. The club has placed defenseman Michael Stone and forward Michael Frolik on the injured reserve list.
Stone has been a healthy scratch for 11 of the past 12 games. According to Postmedia’s Wes Gilbertson, the Flames discovered the blood clot this morning in Stone’s arm. There’s no timeline for his return.
Frolik was involved in an awkward collision in the Flames’ win over Vegas on Monday night. He skated in Wednesday’s morning skate but left early and didn’t play against Winnipeg. He has a lower-body injury and is considered day-to-day.
In better news, our pal Pat Steinberg is reporting that Sam Bennett is fine after blocking a Dustin Byfuglien shot against Winnipeg.
With Dalton Prout on a conditioning stint and no extra healthy bodies on the Flames roster, expect them to call up a body or two from the American Hockey League’s Stockton Heat prior to their road trip to Vegas and Arizona.
