The Calgary Flames beat the Winnipeg Jets 4-1 on Thursday night, but there was a scary incident late in the game that fans likely weren’t happy with. Jets defenseman Dustin Byfuglien slashed Johnny Gaudreau on his arm, which has resulted in a $2,500 fine.
The slash occurred at 17:54 of the third period with Winnipeg’s net empty. Gaudreau scored immediately after the slash to make it 4-1, and Byfuglien was given a minor penalty for slashing for the incident.
Following the game Gaudreau downplayed the incident, noting his arm was “fine,” but the league likely didn’t share the same nonchalance.
