A familiar face will be representing the Calgary Flames at the 2019 National Hockey League All-Star Game. Forward Johnny Gaudreau will be suiting up for the fifth straight season at the event.

The final spot on each division’s roster will be determined by a fan vote, so the Flames may have a second player representative – Mark Giordano is the team’s representative in that vote. The Pacific Division’s coach will be whoever coaches the divisional leader in points percentage at the midway point of the season, which will potentially be Bill Peters as long as the Flames don’t hit the ditch in the next week. (The midway point of the season is likely this coming Friday or Saturday.)

The Flames’ leading scorer and one of the top offensive players in the NHL, Gaudreau debuted for the Flames in the final game of the 2013-14 season. In his first full season, 2014-15, he played in the All-Star Game as a rookie after a slew of injuries saw a handful of rookies promoted to the “main” game. He’s since been named to each of the last four games through his scoring prowess, elusiveness, and overall ability to make fans go “Ooooh” when he does things on the ice.

The All-Star Game goes Sunday, Jan. 26 in San Jose.
