FlamesNation prospect update: awoooooooooooo

It’s always a good time to remember that Dustin Wolf was four picks away from going home and trying again next year at the NHL Draft.

In case you missed it:

Dillon Dube- F, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 9 1 6 7 3 3 1 31
Change from last week 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 -8.85

It’s still very early in the season, but you feel that there’s a bit more that Dube needs to do. Remember that he was projected to be on the NHL roster this off-season.

Lucas Feuk- LW, Södertälje SK, Superelit/Allsvenskan

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Supetelit up to date 6 6 1 7 6 7 6 23.92
Change from last week
Allsvenskan up to date 12 1 0 1 0 1 0 2.6
Change from last week 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 -0.86

Feuk played in one game this week, and “played” in two as an extra forward, which is a nice way of saying “healthy scratch” in Sweden. I guess it’s nice that the senior team feels that they should keep him around, but I can’t get behind the idea of a prospect playing one game every two weeks.

Glenn Gawdin- RW, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 10 2 7 9 3 6 3 35.87
Change from last week 2 0 1 1 0 0 0 -3.98

Gawdin may have only picked up a secondary power play assist this week, but he was very good in the ways that don’t show up on a scoresheet. For example, he was named the first star in Stockton’s shootout victory over San Jose.

Justin Kirkland- LW/C, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 8 1 5 6 2 4 2 29.89
Change from last week 2 0 1 1 0 2 0 -3.32

Just an assist for Kirkland this week.

Demetrious Koumontzis- LW, Arizona State University, NCAA (Independent)

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 8 2 3 5 2 2 0 18.5
Change from last week 2 0 1 1 1 0 0 -1.23

Koumontzis was tossed out of the first game of ASU’s series against Quinnipiac for a checking from behind penalty in the first period, so he could only put up an assist this week. He did pick up two shots in maybe four minutes of ice time during that game, so he was at least being productive in his brief appearance.

Carl-Johan Lerby- D, Malmo Redhawks, SHL

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 16 4 2 6 2 3 2 18.33
Change from last week 3 1 0 1 1 1 1 -0.47

Lerby picked up his fourth goal of the season, showing off his willingness to join the offence:

Linus Lindstrom- C/LW, Skelleftea AIK, SHL

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 16 4 1 5 2 5 2 15.27
Change from last week 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 -2.18

Lindstrom remains a mainstay in Skelleftea’s middle six, which is good considering he’d rarely see that opportunity at any point in the last three seasons. The points should hopefully come soonish, but the coaching staff trusting him there with a third of the SHL season gone is good news.

Ryan Lomberg- LW, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 10 5 3 8 4 7 4 31.88
Change from last week 2 1 1 2 1 1 1 +1.99

Lomberg continues to chug away at the AHL level, picking up two more points this week. I don’t really believe that he’s much at the NHL level, but his play is going to at least earn himself a spot in the call-up conversation.

Mitchell Mattson- LW, Michigan State, NCAA (Big 10)

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 3 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
Change from last week 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

Had a shot on net, which is worth mentioning for a player who hasn’t scored a point in a serious hockey game in two years.

Andrew Nielsen- D, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 10 0 1 1 0 0 0 3.99
Change from last week 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 -0.99

A quiet weekend for Nielsen, as per usual.

Ilya Nikolayev- C, Loko, MHL

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 20 11 7 18 15 14 12 22.88
Change from last week 2 1 0 1 0 1 0 -1.13

A goal this week for Nikolayev, who’s headed off later in the week to represent Russia in the Four Nations Tournament from Nov 8-10.

Joshua Nodler- C/RW, Michigan State

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 6 1 1 2 0 2 0 9.1
Change from last week 2 1 0 1 0 1 0 +2.27

MSU is a pretty good power play team. In fact, that’s where they scored all of their goals this weekend. Bodes well for Nodler, who picked up one of them. Here’s an article about his early days in East Lansing.

Jakob Pelletier- LW, Moncton Wildcats, QMJHL

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 15 11 17 28 16 21 13 43.47
Change from last week 2 2 4 6 3 4 1 +4.06

Ho hum, just another six point weekend for Pelletier.

He’s also scored a goal and picked up an assist in the QMJHL vs Russia game as I type this:

Mathias Emilio Pettersen- C/LW, Denver Pioneers, NCAA (NCHC)

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 8 1 7 8 3 5 3 36
Change from last week 2 0 2 2 0 1 0 0

Still chugging along at a point per game. Not bad, but I think we’d all like to see a bit more from him.

Matthew Phillips- RW, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 10 3 5 8 4 7 4 31.88
Change from last week 2 0 1 1 0 1 0 -2.99

Just an assist for Phillips this week.

Luke Philp- C, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 8 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
Change from last week 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

Can’t see why he hasn’t been reassigned to the ECHL yet. He’s not done much of anything yet this season.

Martin Pospisil- C/LW, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 6 0 0 0 0 0 0 0
Change from last week 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0

Injured, week to week.

Milos Roman- C, Vancouver Giants, WHL

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 18 8 6 14 6 11 6 19.26
Change from last week 2 1 1 2 1 2 1 +0.69

A solid if not unspectacular week for Roman, who recorded an assist and iced the game with an empty netter against Medicine Hat.

Adam Ruzicka- C, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 10 1 3 4 3 1 1 15.94
Change from last week 2 1 0 1 1 1 1 +0.99

His first goal! Right from where he scored plenty of them in junior:

Filip Sveningsson- LW, IK Oskarshamn, SHL

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 12 1 1 2 2 2 2 6.98
Change from last week

Injured, unknown how and for how long.

Eetu Tuulola- RW, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 10 4 2 6 4 5 3 23.91
Change from last week 2 0 1 1 1 1 1 -1

Tuulola picked up another assist this weekend. He’s developing some consistency, now hopefully he can take it to the next level.

Rinat Valiev- D, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 10 0 2 2 1 1 1 7.97
Change from last week 2 0 1 1 1 1 1 +1.33

Picked up the helper on Ruzicka’s first goal.

Alexander Yelesin- D, Stockton Heat

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 10 1 1 2 1 2 1 7.97
Change from last week 2 0 0 0 0 0 0 -1.99

Nothing doing for Yelesin, though him and Valiev were the most active pairing for Stockton in terms of being on the ice for goals for and against.

Dmitri Zavgorodniy- C/RW, Rimouski Oceanic, QMJHL

GP G A P 5v5 P P1 5v5 P1 NHLe
Up to date 18 13 23 36 19 25 15 46.58
Change from last week 2 1 4 5 1 4 1 +1.46

A rare thing happened this weekend: Zavgorodniy was held pointless in a game. Haters might point out that a lot of that has to do with Alexis Lafreniere getting ejected in the first period, but I like to think that even superheroes need a day off. He’s clearly been saving all his energy for the QMJHL-Russia game, where he has a goal and assist thus far for Russia.

Jon Gillies- G, Stockton Heat

GP TOI SV%
Up to date 3 189.42 0.934
Change from last week 1 64.62 +0.003

Another great game for Gillies, stopping 30/32 (0.938 SV%) and two of three in the shootout to give Stockton a win against San Jose.

Tyler Parsons- G, Stockton Heat

GP TOI SV%

Lower body injury, week to week.

Nick Schneider- G, Kansas City Mavericks/Stockton Heat

GP TOI SV%
ECHL Up to date 1 60 0.96
Change from last week
AHL Up to date 6 358 0.883
Change from last week 2 122 -0.02

One rough one for Schneider, one okay one. Opened up the week allowing seven on 35 shots (0.800 SV%), followed it up by stopping 20 of 22 (0.909 SV%) the next night.

Dustin Wolf- G, Everett Silvertips, WHL

GP TOI SV%
Up to date 13 754.65 0.938
Change from last week 3 173.12 -0.007

I’m sure you’ve seen this before, but it’s worth looking at again.

Otherwise, he didn’t have a great game to start the week, getting pulled with eight minutes left after allowing four on 26 shots (0.846). He finished the back-to-back-to-back series strong, with a 0.955 SV% against Kamloops (42/44), and a 0.925 SV% performance against Spokane (37/40).

Artyom Zagidulin- G, Stockton Heat

GP TOI SV%
Up to date 7 375.31 0.881
Change from last week 1 60.41 -0.002

Zagidulin has been relied upon by Stockton as the 1B to Gillies’ 1A, but he’s far behind Gillies. Benefit of the doubt for playing with the tired team, but 0.871 showing isn’t going to keep him around in Stockton for long.
