The National Hockey Leauge may start its 2020-21 season in November.
According to TSN’s Pierre LeBrun, the league is now willing to delay the start of next year until November in order to finish off the 2019-20 season.
It’s a slight change of tone for the league, who has been seemingly headstrong on the 2020-21 league season not being delayed and played in full.
If this were to happen, it would mean that the league would see playoff games into June of that season; and for this year, we may see the league looking to hand out the Stanley Cup in August, or maybe even September.
In order to make a 2020-21 season work, the league could, in theory, cancel the NHL all-star week as well as not have bye weeks for clubs.
The league, too, appears to have asked players and staff to extend their self-quarantine to April 30th.
The NHL has extended the self-quarantine period for players and staff to April 30.
