In the wake of the cancellation of such beloved annual events as the Calgary Stampede and the Calgary Folk Music Festival, some expected but disappointing news from the City of Calgary. They’ve extended their ban on public events with more than 15 people through the end of August.
With the National Hockey League pondering ways to complete the 2019-20 season this summer in a handful of cities, this news probably takes Calgary out of the running to be one.

The NHL season has been on pause since March 12 due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. There are 189 NHL regular season games remaining on the calendar, and the NHL is juggling multiple scenarios for potentially completing the regular season or playoffs – the scenarios vary greatly depending on the time available to them and potential restrictions caused by public health conditions.
