After over two months, Calgary Flames prospect Jakob Pelletier returned to QMJHL action. And he brought a World Junior silver medal to the Chicoutimi bubble as his team begins their pursuit of a league title.
Let’s check in on all the Flames’ prospects.
In case you missed it:
- Last week’s update
- The Heat will be playing out of the Saddledome this season, but we still don’t have a schedule for the AHL’s Canadian Division because Ontario hasn’t signed off on Belleville and the Toronto Marlies playing yet.
- The OHL still isn’t back yet, nor have they really announced anything, so 2020 pick Rory Kerins is sort of lost in the lurch right now.
- The WHL has announced return plans for the Alberta teams. We’re waiting on announcements for the BC teams (which would impact Connor Zary) and the Washington State teams (which would impact Dustin Wolf).
Believe the WHL US division will soon get clearance for a 24 game schedule starting in March.

Boltmann remains an NCAA regular blueliner as a pretty young player. He’s not getting demolished by opposing offensive players, but he hasn’t been able to get on the score-sheet yet. He’s primarily playing on the second pairing with New Jersey prospect Matt Hellickson.
Lucas Feuk- LW, AIK, Allsvenskan/J20 Nationell / Kalix HC, HockeyEttan
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Allsvenskan up to date | 14 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 2.33 |

Feuk had a goal in a divergent week for Kalix: they had a 9-1 loss and a 5-1 win. Feuk is playing on the top line with 28-year-old William Juntto and 22-year-old Philip Norberg Aspnas. HockeyEttan is an interesting mix of players.
Ryan Francis- C, Cape Breton Eagles/Saint John Sea Dogs, QMJHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 15 | 6 | 15 | 21 | 10 | 15 | 8 | 32.60 |
Change from last week | – | – | – | – | – | – | – | n/a |
New Brunswick remains a national COVID-19 hot-spot and the next scheduled Sea Dogs game is Mar. 3, though that may be revised if the situation improves.
Johannes Kinnvall- D, HV71, SHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 29 | 7 | 15 | 22 | 8 | 12 | 5 | 37.08 |
Change from last week | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | +0.43 |
Kinnvall had an assist (yay!), but suffered a ligament injury to his lower body and is expected to be out 6-8 weeks. That should see him miss the remainder of the regular season, but he could be back in time for the beginning of the SHL playoffs.
Demetrios Koumontzis- LW, Arizona State University Sun Devils, NCAA
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 16 | 3 | 6 | 9 | 6 | 7 | 6 | 15.36 |

The Sun Devils were idle this week.
Yan Kuznetsov- D, University of Connecticut Huskies, NCAA / Team Russia, WJC
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 8 | 1 | 4 | 5 | 5 | 3 | 3 | 20.14 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 2 | 2 | 2 | 1 | 1 | +4.03 |
Kuznetsov keeps chugging along on UConn’s top pairing with senior Adam Karashik. He had two points in a weekend game and keeps playing a ton.
Mitchell Mattson- C, Michigan State University Spartans, NCAA
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 18 | 2 | 2 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 4 | 6.07 |

Mattsson had no points this week. His offense has gone quiet, but he’s winning 52% of his face-offs while playing on MSU’s bottom six.
Ilya Nikolayev- C, Buran Voronezh, VHL / Loko Yaroslavl, MHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
VHL up to date | 33 | 6 | 5 | 11 | 5 | 10 | 5 | 10.69 |

Change from last week | – | – | – | – | – | – | – | n/a |
The good news: Nikolayev is a rock-solid middle six centre in Russia’s secondary pro league. The bad news: he’s won just under half of his face-offs and his offense is pretty quiet lately.
Josh Nodler- C, Michigan State University Spartans, NCAA
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 18 | 2 | 7 | 9 | 8 | 8 | 7 | 13.65 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | 0 | -1.71 |
Nodler didn’t score this week, but MSU’s first line centre has won 56% of his draws.
Jakob Pelletier- LW, Val-d’Or Foreurs, QMJHL / Team Canada, WJC
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 11 | 4 | 12 | 16 | 9 | 12 | 7 | 33.87 |
Change from last week | 2 | 1 | 2 | 3 | 3 | 1 | 1 | +0.23 |
Between Team Canada’s camp, Flames camp and his post-camp quarantine, this weekend featured Pelletier’s first QMJHL games in 10 weeks. He was sharp, with two assists in one game and a goal in the other as the Foreurs split their weekend games (played in a bubble).
Jeremie Poirier- D, Saint John Sea Dogs, QMJHL
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 15 | 5 | 11 | 16 | 11 | 12 | 8 | 24.84 |

New Brunswick remains a national COVID-19 hot-spot and the next scheduled Sea Dogs game is Mar. 3, though that may be revised if the situation improves.
Ilya Solovyov- D, Dynamo Minsk, KHL / Dinamo Molodechno, Belarus
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
KHL up to date | 35 | 1 | 5 | 6 | 5 | 3 | 3 | 11.27 |

Belarus up to date | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 1 | 1 | n/a |
Change from last week | – | – | – | – | – | – | – | n/a |
Solovyov remains on Dynamo’s injured list, and no timeline is available for his return.
Filip Sveningsson- LW, MODO Hockey, Allsvenskan
GP | G | A | P | 5v5 P | P1 | 5v5 P1 | NHLe
Up to date | 33 | 2 | 6 | 8 | 7 | 5 | 4 | 7.89 |
Change from last week | 2 | 0 | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | +0.54 |
Sveningsson had an assist this week while playing on second line with Adam Rockwood and Mikkel Agaard, but then missed the Jan. 31 game (for unspecified reasons).
Daniil Chechelev- G, Russkie Vityazi Chekhov, MHL / HC Ryazan, VHL / HC Vityaz Podolsk, KHL
GP | TOI | SV% | |
MHL up to date | 14 | 808 | 0.932 |

VHL up to date | 21 | 1116 | 0.912 |

Chechelev is part of a three goalie rotation in Ryazan along with 22-year-old Dmitry Godes and 27-year-old Andrey Litvinov. To nobody’s shock, he and Godes are the better goalies and getting the bulk of the starts. He had three goals against in a shootout loss in his only outing last week.
