One of the best value draft selections in franchise history plays his 500th game for the Calgary Flames tonight. 2011 fourth round pick Johnny Gaudreau hits the milestone after becoming one of the most significant players in club history.
The 104th player selected in 2011, Gaudreau is neck and neck with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins for fifth in draft class scoring. The four players ahead of them are Nikita Kucherov, Gabriel Landeskog, Mark Scheifele and Jonathan Huberdeau. The five players mentioned here have all played many more NHL games than Gaudreau, who played three NCAA seasons after being drafted.
