The little man had a big game, again, at the World Championship in Latvia. Andrew Mangiapane had two goals in Canada’s semi-final game against the United States to power them to a 4-2 victory and a berth in the gold medal game on Sunday.
Playing on Canada’s top line with Connor Brown and Adam Henrique, Mangiapane scored Canada’s second and third goals. He now has seven goals (and 11 points) in six games, placing him second in tournament scoring behind Brown.
Three best players for Team Canada in the tournament named by the staff: Adam Henrique (ANA), Andrew Mangiapane (CGY), Connor Brown (OTT)
If there was any doubt Andrew Mangiapane was the MVP of this tournament, he put that to bed today. Two goals, one on effort the other on pure skill. Canada won five of six since he cleared quarantine after late arrival. He has seven goals and 11 points in six games.
Mangiapane’s Flames teammate Connor Mackey had an assist for Team USA, his first point of the tournament.
Canada will meet the winner of the Finland/Germany semi-final for the gold medal on Sunday. The United States will meet the Finland/Germany loser for the bronze medal on Sunday.
