Calgary Flames prospect Matt Coronato is headed to the NCAA national championship tournament. Coronato scored the overtime winner for Harvard over Quinnipiac on Saturday night, capturing the ECAC playoff tournament and sending the Crimson to the NCAA’s annual tournament.

Coronato also had an assist in the 3-2 victory. He had two goals and two assists in their semi-final victory over Clarkson on Friday night. Harvard was in a position where they had to win their conference in order to draw into the national championship tournament.
Coronato, 19, was the Flames’ first-round pick in the 2021 NHL Draft. He’s currently a freshman with Harvard. He got off to a slow scoring start for Harvard, but really found an offensive groove when a couple teammates headed to the Olympics with the United States.
Since Feb. 1, Coronato has 11 goals and 20 points in 15 games. So far in his freshman season, he has 35 points in 33 games – leading his team.
The draw for the NCAA national championship tournament is Sunday afternoon. Harvard gets an automatic berth as a conference champion, but Notre Dame (home of Flames prospect Jake Boltmann) is a virtual lock to get an at-large berth for their strong regular season.
