The intermission programming for the 2023 Heritage Classic is just starting to be unveiled, and a familiar quartet will be appearing during the second intermission. The National Hockey League announced on Wednesday that Hanna, Alberta’s Nickleback will be performing during the second intermission of the outdoor game between the Calgary Flames and the Edmonton Oilers.
Former in Hanna, Alberta in 1995, Nickleback had their big mainstream breakout in 2002-03, when they got big enough that they had a song in the first Spider-Man movie. Now, 20 years later, they get a chance to perform in a stadium during a Battle of Alberta. That’s pretty cool for some Alberta boys. While likely not as universally beloved as some other products of Hanna, like Hockey Hall of Famer and Flames legend Lanny McDonald, Nickleback has sold tons of albums and won many awards – both in Canada and throughout the world.
The 2023 Heritage Classic takes place Sunday, Oct. 29 at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton. Tickets are still available.
