The Flames are three games into a four game road trip through California, and they’ve gotten points in each game! They’re 5-3-4 in December and have played quite well lately. They play a possession-based game with lots of shot volume. The upside is that can wear down opponents. The downside is that sometimes, opposing goaltenders get warmed up by all those early shots and find their comfort zone facing so many shots.
So, the Ducks aren’t especially good this season. When they’re good, they score in bunches. When they’re not good, they allow a ton of goals. Their third-string goalie, Lukas Dostal, is in net due to a couple injuries to John Gibson and Anthony Stolarz. Things don’t bode well for the home side here.

Primary Bet – Calgary Flames to win Moneyline (-223)

In the context of this game, the Flames are massive favourites. They’re playing their third game in four nights, and the second half of a back-to-back, and they’re still fairly hefty favourites. There’s not a ton of value here, but it’s indicative of how the oddsmakers think this one will go.

Secondary Bet – Jonathan Huberdeau anytime goalscorer (+250)

On Thursday in Los Angeles, Jonathan Huberdeau had the puck on his stick a bunch of times with a chance to win the game. He didn’t take the shot. Post-game, everyone on social media said “Hey Huberdeau, shoot more!” Heck, Huberdeau said in his chat with the media that he needs to take the shot. He’ll get a bunch of chances to take the shot in this game. We have to imagine he’ll do so, and find some success against a bad Anaheim team.

Tertiary Bet – Mikael Backlund anytime goalscorer (+220)

Backlund’s line with Andrew Mangiapane and Blake Coleman has the puck a ton, but hasn’t score a lot since being reunited. We expect them to have the puck a lot once again and, given that, they seem due for some goals. Backlund’s great value at these odds.
Remember bet safe and have fun!
