The Coyotes create very minimal offence and give up just as much defensively. Nick Schmaltz is hurt leaving Clayton Keller to fend for himself in the offence. Maybe new addition Brett Ritchie can give him the boost he needs, right Flames fans. Everything points to advantage Flames here – and the recommended bets will reflect that – but it is worth saying that against lottery teams the Flames struggle. Since Jan. 1 Calgary only has a record of 5-6-3 against non-playoff teams. Will they actually come through finally, guess we’ll find out.

Primary Bet – Calgary Flames Moneyline & Over 5.5 total goals (+115)

A $1 bet pays out $2.15. Is this eerily similar to what I picked for the first line last game? Yes, yes it is. In fact it’s the exact same bet and against lower level teams with shaky defence like this these kinds of lines are my favourite. No bet has perfect odds to hit but going for some more positive lines that are likely to hit isn’t a bad thing.

Secondary Bet – Anytime goalscorer Tyler Toffoli (+162)

A $1 bet pays out $2.62. I usually don’t pick goals as the solo function I go with assists. Naturally with two assist awarded per one goal the simple odds of hitting are that much higher and the odds aren’t quite reflective of that. It’s why it’s good value. This one is good value because Toffoli is the Flames best scorer and you can be sure that if he doesn’t score he’ll hit the post. Having Pelletier play with him now too only amplifies my thought process of him being able to score.

Tertiary Bet – Total shots on goal over 62.5 (-134)

A $1 bet pays out $1.75. The have the Flames individual line set at over 39+ and that felt a little rich, but the closer to 60 the combined line gets in any game I like it. Calgary typically gets over 35 themselves they just need the Coyotes to get a few non-lethal attempts off the rush and some power play theatrics from Markstrom and this will hit. With how Markstrom has played for two weeks that’s not a bad investment.
