I don’t know about the average Joe, but to make the NHL one  has to have a high compete drive. You have to crave competition or a challenge with the only reward being the satisfaction that comes with completion. Calgary is 2-0-2 on this road trip so far and I would wager there’s an internal hunger to end it with a win. The opponent today is Nashville – who outside of their top guns really struggle to score. In all situations the Preds are 19 goals below expectation, the  Flames are only 5 below.
It’s almost like the Predators are the Dallas Stars lite – fantastic top of the league goalie, a stud defenceman, a great top line and then everything drops off. Calgary should be able to win this with the way they’ve been playing, but all it takes is one weak goal against to change the tide.

Primary Bet – Flames puckline -1.5 (+170)

I’m betting on the Flames to win by 2 or more. They have really come on strong lately and with the added motivation to close out the road trip with points in every game i think the Flames will take it Nashville early – slightly let off the pressure when they shift to protect the lead, but still get the empty net goal. Even if it doesn’t end like that as long as the Flames win by 2+ goals you would win this bet

Secondary Bet – Filip Forsberg AND Nazem Kadri both to get 1+ goals

Okay this ones a bit crazier but not as crazy as you think. Forsberg is an elite talent in the NHL that doesn’t get the respect he deserves pondering away with just Matt Duchene and Roman Josi to help him out. The newest mystery 7th round forward the Preds are grooming (Hornqvist, Arvidsson) in Parssinen is coming along nice, but we bet on the big dogs. Kadri can score on any given shot – he’s also got Huberdeau playing better hockey with him every night.
I dunno – gut feeling – risky for sure though. Bet at your own risk

Tertiary Bet – Jusse Saros to get 35+ saves (+162)

There is a line for less saves if you want – 26+ saves pays a line of -334. I’m going big with my bets today because… i really have no reason for it i just felt like it. This one is calculated, the Preds give up a lot defensively and Calgary takes shots from everywhere. If you contest the Flames on the halfwall they are either rimming it behind the net, to the defenceman, or shooting it. The fourth option is a soft pass into open area for a quick shot but I’ve hardly seen them do that.
