I think even someone whose been in quarantine since the cold war would know by now the Blackhawks are not a good hockey club, and yet the last time these two teams played Calgary failed to collect two points. Now that should not be the case again, even without Tanev in the lineup this should be a layup game – that itself brings its own dangers. Two games before the all-star break and 9 days off the players are going to have to remain sharp because the Blackhawks? they’re all just playing for their paycheques.

Primary Bet – Calgary Flames to win – moneyline – and Patrick Kane to score 1+ points (+100)

This combination is favoured but not heavily, with a $1 bet paying out $1. The Blackhawks are even starting an undrafted goaler whose playing in his 2nd NHL game after just 12 at the AHL level. I’m not sure he’s going to be ready for the lack of defensive coverage the Blackhawks bring and the aggressiveness of a Flames attack that will grind him down. Kane makes them worse defensively but extremely better offensively – a rare player where his offensive skills are worth more than the rest of his games sum combined. Anyways, Flames should win this if they don’t it’ll be a damn tragedy.

Secondary Bet – Andrew Mangiapane over 2.5 shots on goal (+110)

Outside of maybe Toffoli there’s nobody on this team i trust to let a shoot off when  they can like Mangiapane. He’s one of their  best  wingers on the breakout but he struggles to gain separation from defenders on zone entries – two things happen when he’s contested 1) he dumps it behind the net for Backlund/Coleman and the attack continues or 2) he puts a quick shot on net  for the far side that usually leaves a rebound in the corner (or a goal!). Both things lead to him getting more shots – if PP1 falters Mangiapane will see some PP2 time as well which can only help.

Tertiary Bet – Elias Lindholm to get 2+ points (+162)

This is the bet where i kind of go gut feeling. I wanted a better line for odds so i had to go to the 2 point threshold, but i feel he’s been semi-quiet for a few games despite playing well and tonight will be cash in night. If there power play can find any semblance of success Lindholm has a shot there but he, Dubé, and Toffoli have been quite formidable at 5v5.
