Vegas is a very good hockey club that has the ability to finish off their chances. Calgary is a very good structured club that is sink or swim when it comes to offence. The real wild card comes from the Flames net and whether they will show up and make saves. Jacob Markstrom is coming off two full days of rest and was playing very good hockey before the crash in LA. I expect a semi-close match-up with the Knights coming out ahead.

Primary Bet – Vegas Golden Knights Moneyline (+120)

A $1 bet pays out $2.20. Look i don’t know why this has a positive payout line – probably because oddsmakers look at the advanced numbers to come up with their odds mixed with the Flames home ice advantage. Either way I think this is a no brainer – it’s also a happiness hedge. Flames win the fan in you is a winner, the Knights win you are a monetary winner. Best of both worlds.

Secondary Bet – Total Shots on goal UNDER 62.5 (-118)

A $1 bet pays out $1.85. There’s been a shifting of the winds in Calgary lately. Ever since the lines got put in a blender the emphasis has been on less shots in total and more on the quality. As a result Calgary is taking less shots themselves – a game against the Ducks isn’t going to deter me from this very noticeable pattern. I’m banking on two strong defensive teams to show their shot suppression gifts tonight.

Tertiary Bet – Tyler Toffoli and Jack Eichel each to score 1+ power play points (+1000)

A $1 bet pays out $11.00. The biggest bet odds I’ve ever recommended and it in truth is pretty far fetched, but not completely out of left field foul. This is fun because every time there’s a power play you’ll be watching intently hoping one of these players is involved on a goal. That’s the point of this – not to make money, but to further add to the enjoyment of the sports experience – at least for me it is.
