The Calgary Flames will be looking for a fourth straight victory on home ice when they return to action against the visiting St. Louis Blues on Tuesday as -105 home underdogs on the NHL odds at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.
Thanks to a bye week and this past weekend’s all-star break Calgary will see its first game action in 10 days when the team hits the ice for Tuesday night’s matchup against the Blues at Scotiabank Saddledome.
Blues at Flames | OddsShark Matchup Report
The Flames entered the break on a losing note after closing a three-game road trip with a 5-2 loss in Ottawa as -165 chalk at betting sites on January 18. The Flames dropped two of three during their recent swing through Eastern Canada, but have produced steady results on home ice, post three straight victories, with each of those wins coming by a one-goal margin.
But while Calgary has moved to within striking distance of first place in the Pacific Division during their recent strong stretch, offensive production continues to be a major concern. The team has averaged just two goals per game over their past six outings, and has scored two or fewer goals in nine of their past 16 overall contests.
The Flames’ shaky production has left them stalled in 25th place in the league in goals scored per game, with just 2.60, while surrendering 2.94 goals per game. However, the upside for bettors has been the steady results on the totals by the UNDER, which has paid out in four of their past six games according to the OddsShark NHL Database.
The Blues return to action set as -115 favorites for Tuesday night’s matchup after falling 3-1 on the road at Vancouver on Monday night. St. Louis sits in first place in the Western Conference and has climbed to a +1000 wager on the Stanley Cup odds at sportsbooks.
The Blues have held the upper hand in recent dates with the Flames, winning in each of the past three meetings, capped by a lopsided 5-0 win in St. Louis as -140 chalk on November 21. St. Louis has also won two straight and six of its past nine games in Calgary.
