On Wednesday, the Calgary Flames (2-7-1, 5 points) played quite well but made just enough mistakes to lose to a strong Dallas team. They’ll try to replicate that effort, but with a better result, on Saturday against the Seattle Kraken (4-5-2, 10 points). The Flames have lost six games in a row: can they finally snap that skid and back into the win column?
The broadcast begins at 8 p.m. MT on City TV, Sportsnet One/West/Ontario/East and Sportsnet 960 The Fan.

The Flames

Projected lines courtesy Daily Faceoff:
Huberdeau – Lindholm – Mangiapane
Zary – Kadri – Sharangovich
Pospisil – Backlund – Coleman
Hunt – Dube – Duehr
Weegar – Andersson
Hanifin – Tanev
Zadorov – Gilbert
Dan Vladar starts for the Flames, backed up by Jacob Markstrom. The projected extras are Nick DeSimone and A.J. Greer. Adam Ruzicka remains out day-to-day with an upper-body injury. 2018 fourth-rounder Martin Pospisil is expected to make his NHL debut.
The Flames have lost six games in a row. In some of those games, if we’re being honest, they just weren’t all that good. In some of those games, they deserved a better fate. Wednesday against Dallas was the second category; they were really good in the third period, providing a bit of a glimpse at the team that they could be if things all snap into place.
We still have yet to see a consistent 60 minute effort from the Flames this season. Perhaps against Seattle it finally emerges.

The Kraken

Projected lines courtesy Daily Faceoff:
Kartye – Beniers – Bjorkstrand
Schwartz – Wennberg – Eberle
McCann – Gourde – Tolvanen
Shore – Bellemare – Yamamoto
Dunn – Larsson
Oleksiak – Borgen
Dumoulin – Schultz
We’re expecting Philipp Grubauer to start in net, backed up by Joey Daccord. Their projected extra skater is Jaycob Megna.
The Kraken are wobbling around in the Pacific Division’s mushy middle to start the season, but they’ve won their last two games. They have a four-way tie at the top of their lineup for their scoring lead: Jared McCann, Jaden Schwartz, Oliver Bjorkstrand and Vince Dunn. The Kraken are very much the team they were last year, except they’re off to a bit of a slow start and their execution is off a little bit.
