From July 27 to August 4, fans of the Calgary Flames can watch one of the team’s prospects, Topi Rönni, play for his home country of Finland at the World Junior summer showcase.
Rönni, who is still unsigned to this point, was a second round draft pick of the Flames in 2022 and spent his 2022-23 season between the U20-SM sarja with the Tappara U20 team and Liiga with Tappara. The 6-foot-2, 181 pound center scored 10 points in 7 games with the U20 team and 5 points in 22 games in Liiga.
The 2024 U-20 World Junior Championships will be held from Dec. 26 to Jan. 5 in Gothenburg, Sweden, and Ronni is hoping to make his case to play in the tournament when it rolls around. He represented Finland in last year’s edition.
